An Update on Spinning

I mentioned in my April blog post that I had finished spinning the Masham fiber and that I was rather allergic to it. I took a photo of it and ended up sending it off to live in Michigan with Jessie (aka neonlights on Ravelry). I ended up with about 165 yards of DK weight yarn. I think it turned out rather nice, despite being so allergic to it. Very bright and fun colors!

Back at the beginning of April, I was spinning Hello Yarn BFL in Burnished. It took me forever to finish that since it was spinning very thin, but I managed to finish spinning it the last week of May and ply it the first weekend in June. Since I had split this fiber in half down the center, I decided to Navajo ply it to keep the long color repeats I had spun. I ended up with 447 yards of fingering weight yarn.

I’m currently knitting it into a Baktus scarf.

After finishing the BFL, I haven’t spun anything. I’ve been going back and forth about what to spin. I need to spin 2-3 bobbins of singles for the wheel class I’m taking at SSK next week and last night I finally started prepping All Spun Up merino for that.

After that, I think it’s on to the June Expand Your Horizons SAL fiber. June’s fiber is Romney and it just so happens that April’s Hello Yarn club shipment was Romney. The colorway is called Splendid.

Then there’s this Loop bump I got a while back that I want to spin up.

And 908347 other things that make me wish I had more time in my day to knit and spin! Darn that job and schooling getting in the way!!

Ohh, can’t forget that Tour de Fleece is starting at the end of this month! Who will be participating in TdF this year? Already know what you’ll be spinning? I’m still figuring out some of the details, but my big challenge will be to spin a sock yarn. Already have fiber picked out and ready to go! Might start out with something else. Still undecided about that. I may need the whole time just to work on the sock yarn!

Have you all been spinning anything recently or planning to spin some things up? I’ll be taking a wheel class next week as well as a core spinning class. I hope to share that with you once I return from SSK! Off to spinning group tonight where I’ll be working on the singles for that wheel class. 🙂
