Is it here yet?

I put in my order to Knit Picks today for Wool of the Andes in Amethyst Heather – enough to make the sweater on the cover of the Summer 2007 Interweave Knits, the Wheat-Ear Cable Yoke sweater. I’m anxiously awaiting my order to arrive so I can start swatching!

I’m binding off on The Shawl right now. Then it will be washed, blocked and on it’s way to my swap partner. I really like the i-cord bind off, but it’s a little bit tedious to do (hence why I’m taking a break and posting about yarn on the way instead of doing it).

I have decided that I will not completed MS3. I don’t think the design is for me. For now, I think I will take it off the needles and let the yarn go back in the stash until I’m ready to knit it into something else. I’ve got Icarus on the needles right now, so it will pretty much just take it’s place for the lace I’m working on.

I’m getting a lot of things finished up or off the needles, I’ve already got tons more things I want to knit. Right now, though, I’m going to try and keep it to a minimum and not cast on for a ton of projects and I’m staying out of swaps for the rest of the year because I think I’m burnt out of swaps right now. I’d been doing swaps pretty steadily for a little over a year and I need a break. I’m just not finding a whole lot of joy in it at the moment and money is tight, so a break will do me good! Some things I am (like knitting!), but others (stuffie swap), not so much. I’m just lacking in energy to do all the things I did last year with that swap. I was then, too, but I was not working, so the little energy I did have could go to taking care of the swap things. The requirements aren’t as high this time, so that’s a good thing. I’m sure it will turn out fine! As soon as The Shawl is off and the stuffie is on her way home, that’s it for swaps for me.

So… what’s on your needles? Itching to cast anything on? Next project? Tell me about it!

Clue One is DONE

I’ll start with the exciting news: I’ve completed Clue 1 of Mystery Stole 3!  YAY!!  I completed it last night and I’m now a few rows in to Clue 2.  Of course this means that photos of what it’s looking like so far should be shown, so here they are:

Tonight I’m going over to Crafty Mands house for dinner and I will be bring it with me and we will have our own little knit-along going.

Yesterday, along with making it past Clue 1 of MS3, I went to Jo Ann’s to use my 50% off coupon.  I managed to get some US 3 DPN’s (mine went missing – completely GONE) for $4 with use of the coupon.  They had Simplicity patterns on sale for $1.99, so I got one that I had my eye on.  It’s a simple shirt pattern.  Now I just need some fabric.  I haven’t decided what I want to use yet, but I do know that I want to make at least one white shirt with the pattern.

The DPN’s are for another Shedir hat that I’m working on.  I could be DONE already, but without DPN’s that won’t happen.  Now I have no excuse but to finish it up.  Here’s what it currently looks like:

Don’t worry, it’s not really that bright in real life.  I’m still going to have yarn left over and I’m not sure what I’ll do with it.  Maybe a lace scarf?  I’m sure I’ll have enough for something.  We’ll see once I’m done.  One thing that is certain is that I’ll be glad to be able to get one thing off my WIP list!  It still needs a recipient, though.  I’m not really a hat person and I doubt I’ll ever wear it.

This weekend should be fun.  Tomorrow some gals from my knitting group and I are going to do a yarn shop hop.  I’m looking forward to seeing some shops that I haven’t been to before.  After, I’m going to The Beach Waterpark with my mom and youngest sister to their Saturday night Dive-In Movie.  They’re playing "Flushed Away" which none of us have seen before.  Should be fun and it’s only $10 admission after 4 pm instead of their regular $35 admission.  Sunday I don’t have any plans and Nick is working, as per the usual.  I’ll probably do laundry and work on MS3.

Well, that’s all for now.  Have a good weekend!

Knittng Lace with a Tired Brain

I have decided that on Monday nights after my 12 hour work day, I should not, under any circumstances, knit lace.  Especially not MS3.  Last night I thought it would be a good idea to work on MS3 for a while before bed.  This was a bad idea.  I knit three rows and something went horribly wrong.  I tried to tink back to fix it, but at the time didn’t know what I had done wrong.  In my tinking back, I made the problem worse.  I had to rip back.  But wait.  THERE WAS NO LIFELINE.  Either I’m brave or crazy (probably the latter at 10 pm on Monday night), but I took the whole thing OFF THE NEEDLES and frogged 3 rows back to where I started.  I picked up stitches on a right side row.  For those not familiar with MS3, only the right sight is patterned.  This meant picking up yarn overs.  Amazingly, I think I did it and knit a wrong side row before giving up for the night.  Never again on a Monday night, my friends.  NEVER AGAIN.

Swatch

Here’s my Mystery Stole 3 swatch:

It’s difficult to see the beads. There are two kinds – one that is sort of clear with a rainbow tint and the other is pearl-ish. I’m going with the latter. I think they look nice with the color of the yarn. Now I just need to see how many beads I have before I start and if it’s not enough I need to see if I can get more. I bought these from Beadworks in Boston. I went to a local bead store yesterday and didn’t see anything like them. I’ll need to count them and see how many I have (I need 300) and if I don’t have enough, I’ll have to scout out some more bead stores around here.

Not much other knitting going on. My socks haven’t seen much progress because I’ve been stressed and not wanting to work on them. I’m 1/3 of the way done with the second sock. I’m going to "Boot Camp for Socks" today at Knit-On! today. My sister is coming with me and some of the gals from my knitting group will be there. Should be fun!

Lace

I’m not sure what I was thinking when I did this… call it payroll delusional brain (too much payroll processing on Monday causes this) or just crazy, but I joined the Mystery Stole Along 3.

I’m contemplating using the lilac colored Zephyr lace weight that I got from the Lace Swap a while back so I can use stash yarn, but may look at something off white if I can score some for cheap. I just don’t want anything too white or too dark that makes it incredibly difficult to do. The more I think about it, the more I want to use what I have. I’ll swatch tonight and see what I think!
